Sunday 24th June

Keith Clayton (Cutsyke) read about two fathers in Genesis Ch. 22 and Luke Ch. 15. Jesus is the Son of God and often addressed God in the Bible as His Father. In Luke we read of the father running to meet his wayward son, a picture of the mercy of God to those who turn to Him in repentance. In Genesis we read of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son, not knowing that is was a test of his obedience and faith towards God. As he is about to kill his son an angel stops him and shows him a ram caught in a bush, a substitute sacrifice for Isaac. This is a picture of God offering His Son Jesus, except He did not spare Him but let Him be crucified and die for our sins. Believe in Him and live.
