Luke’s Gospel ch4 vs14 – 22.
The speaker returned to this passage of scripture that he
previously spoke of a short while ago. Tonight he took up the subject of The
Lord’s words from vs18 – “recovering of sight to the blind”.
Here, The Lord’s ministry was in His home town of Nazareth .
He was meeting various people in the synagogue, and would
have been invited to preach. His fame was going throughout all the region!
The Lord Jesus Christ chose to read from the book of Isaiah at ch61 to
declare to the people exactly who He was – The Messiah!
One more of the many Old Testament prophesies and promises was duly fulfilled –
vs21 “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears”.
The Lord had a wonderful ministry, which is why God sent His
Son into this world - to preach the Gospel and eternal Salvation.
This should be our ministry too as Christians, for His
further glory.
Life for so many people around us has lost all meaning. So
many are broken-hearted, or many are held prisoner by drugs, alcohol and other
obsessions. It is truly an evil world in which we live.
However, the great news is that Jesus Christ, Gods Son, came
to free you and to save you for eternal life in Heaven.
The Lord physically restored many blind people’s eyes, but a
greater blindness blighting humanity is “spiritual blindness” …
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world has blinded them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine
unto them”. –
2nd Corinthians ch4 vs3 -4.
The devil has blinded so many people, and all are in need of
Jesus Christ to touch their lives and open their eyes.
Christ is the solution!
People who are still living in darkness need to enter into
the glorious light of His Gospel.
Jesus Christ demonstrated His great love for us by all that
He did in His life, and then in His death for us at Calvary ’s
Cross. He gave His sinless life as a sacrifice for our sins, to pay the price
we couldn’t ever pay ourselves. He rose from the grave after three days, victorious
and justified. God The Father fully accepted His beloved Son’s sinless
sacrifice.
Reader, are you still unsaved, still spiritually blind?
Then tonight, be like blind Bartimaeus (Marks’s Gospel ch10
vs40 – 52) – who refused to be silenced
by others, but cried out in faith to The Lord Jesus Christ.
“Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately
he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way”. (vs52).
Do not be put off until you are touched!
Simply come to The Lord Jesus Christ in faith. Confess you
are sorry for your sins and asking His forgiveness, invite Him into your heart
and life as your personal Saviour from this day onwards.
Be assured of an
eternal home in Heaven.
