Sunday 5th August

Gareth Crossley (Blackbrook) spoke. He read Ch. 1 John 1 vs 1 - Ch. 2 v.2 and Proverbs 28 v. 13. The verse in Proverbs says, 'He that covers his sins shall not prosper but whosoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.' We either cover or confess our sins. Covering means denying or hiding the wrong that we do. Confessing is the opposite and means being open and transparent before God about our wrong doing and asking his forgiveness. The person who confesses should also 'forsake' his sins, that means not returning to them and getting completely rid of them. The verse tells us that those who confess and forsake receive mercy. Do you want to receive mercy? Confess your sins and repent, turn the other way, and believe in Jesus.
