Gospel Meetings

On 14th November Jim Dryden, who was with us for a period of ten weeks while working locally stood in for an absent speaker. He reminded us of the objective truth of the Gospel referring to the second chapter of Ephesians and also pointed out some of the theological errors of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

On 21st November Rob Mitchell of the Leeds City Mission [LCM]led our Gospel Meeting and gave a full report on the activities of LCM. These include visiting persons detained in police custody over the weekend, street witness, the bookstall in the market, discipling, prayer meetings and speaking engagements.

Romans 1 16-17. He then spoke on the Power of the Gospel to bring us to righteousness through reconciliation with God, to act as his witnesses and to transform our relationships with people. Rob will shortly be leaving LCM and we wish him well and pray that the Lord will clearly reveal His purpose for him and his wife.

Gospel Meetings

On Sunday 31st October Graham Stanley of Leeds led our meeting and presented the Gospel using Psalm 102 as a text.

On Sunday 7th November Fergus Yuille of Whitby presented the Gospel using John 4 43-54 as a text. He explained that the recorded "signs" in John's Gospel are intended to show that what the Lord can do to meet the immediate needs of people he can also do at a deeper level Our Saviour is the One we can turn to when we have apparently insoluble problems.

Fergus also gave us an encouraging report on the activities of the United Beach Missions.
