Gospel Meeting

We were pleased to receive John Clegg of Skelmanthorpe as our guest speaker on 30th January. Working from the first Epistle of Peter 1 18-20 and 2 7a he spoke on the Preciousness of Jesus our Saviour in six aspects:
  • He loves us and always will
  • He gave Himself for us [Galations 2 20]
  • He is our Redeemer
  • He has saved believers from sin and judgment and to the Blessed Hope of an eternity with Him
  • He will never leave us or forsake us
  • He will come again to collect us

We were fortunate to come under the ministry of a very able speaker.

On Saturday 5th February we will be having our annual fellowship meal. [16 45 for 17 00]

Gospel Meetings

On 16th January Phillip Martin of our own assembly led the Gospel meeting with readings from Psalm 116 and John chapter 5. Robert Hall gave testimony to what the Lord is doing in his life. The keyword for the meeting was "Transformation".

On 23rd January Jonathon Slater of the Faith Mission led our Gospel meeting and began by giving a brief report on the work of FM. Points for prayer include the work in schools, a Youth Mission for over 13s at the end of March, for the outreach work conducted by students at the FM Bible School in Edinburgh as part of their training and for the reorganisation of the curriculum at the Bible School so as to continue to be able to attract overseas students.

Jonathon preached from John 14 1-6 and 1Peter 4 7-11. Are we ready to meet our Maker? Have we turned from sin and turned to God. We should be living in peace (Isaiah 26 3), praying always, having genuine love for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ and doing all we can to bring honour to God using the gift that He has given us. A good encouragement!

Phil Benstead, visiting his parents, was able to bring them to the Breaking of Bread meeting. Also present were Jonathan and Helen Gibson of Harrogate. Praise the LORD!

Gospel Meetings

On Sunday 2nd January Laurence Jones of Scarborough led our meeting. He spoke from the text of Psalms 1. Due to illness I was not able to attend the meeting.

On Sunday 9th January Graham Elliot of Scarborough led our meeting, ministering to us from the first chapter of 2 Peter, a letter written to encourage believers to continue in faith and to grow into Christ-likeness. As you will remember from the previous post Graham has been recovering from shingles since the beginning of last month. He is going to return to work tomorrow and would value your continuing prayerful support.

We are also concerned for our brother, Gordon Robshaw, who has bronchitis and is very poorly. We would value your prayers for his speedy recovery.
