Gospel Meeting

On Sunday 27th February Alex Collins of Ossett led our Gospel Meeting and based his message on Ephesians 2 1-10. His principal theme was "by Grace are ye saved" noting the desperate plight of the unredeemed sinner and our utter inability to save ourselves.

I heard some ministry recently in which it was noted that in all apostolic Gospel preaching and in the Ministry of our Lord Himself the need for repentance is a central theme, yet it is rarely mentioned in contemporary preaching. Is this a fair analysis? And if this is the case why is it so?

Gospel Meeting

"What does it mean to be born again?" This is the question to which Craig Maffey of Leeds addressed himself when he led our Gospel Meeting on February 20th. Readings were from John's Gospel chapter 1 10-13 and chapter 3 1-7.

To be born again is to experience a change of nature, to become linked to Jesus the Christ and through Him to God the Father, The Almighty One, Maker of heaven and earth, the seas and all that are therein. Hallelujah!

Gospel Meetings

On Sunday 6th February we were pleased to welcome two younger brethren from Harrogate, John Richardson and Phillip Hall, who gave a clear and concise composite Gospel message. They focused upon who the Saviour is and what He has done. They referenced the following texts: John 19 1-9, 11 50 and 3 16, Hebrews 10 12, 1 Peter 1 3 and 1 John 1 4.

On Sunday 13th February our Gospel meeting was led by our Brother Gordon Robshaw of our own assembly. There was a Royal theme in the address reflected in the choice of hymns - Nos 41, 45, 408 and 54 in Christian Praise. In the reading from Matthew's Gospel ch 22 1-14 Jesus teaches about the kingdom using a parable of a royal wedding. The other reading from Scripture, Isaiah 61 10, 11 and 62 1-3 speaks of "garments of salvation", those garments that the Lord provides for those who trust in His redeeming work.
