Gospel Meeting 26/04/2015

Mr. Paul Richardson read Luke 3 vs.15-23
Although John the Baptist's credentials were good his ministry was to point to Christ, he was not worthy to undo the shoes of Jesus. John could say that he was nothing and Christ was everything.
When we come to Jesus we must humble ourselves and become as nothing and He must become everything. All our plans must be channeled through Him.
What is your expectation, the people came to hear John for various reasons.
Your heart could be opened, Heaven was opened.
The greatness of the person of Christ, the Father's approval of His Son.
Christ can change your life permanently it's not just a fad.
The greatness of His blessings, John's baptism was an external display of repentance for sin.
The baptism of Christ is a sign of internal change, a new life.
John was man, Jesus is God. The Bible tells us that we are sinners.
The man who is God was born at Bethlehem, died on a cross to bear God's judgement for sin. He deals with us internally with our sin and what makes us do it, His blessings are Eternal.
John was a voice Jesus is the Word, God made flesh.
Christianity is about reality, we are either saved or lost eternally, He has the power to save and the power to judge.
As a Christian our lives will be reviewed and rewarded according to our faithfulness to Him.
If you are not a Christian you will be lost and condemned to the lake of fire for ever.
The Christian life is not a bed of roses but we should be prepared to stand up for what we believe.

Gospel Meeting 19/04/2015

Mr.Scott Armstrong read John 1 vs.1-4
1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  The same was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
He emphasised that the Word of God is precious and is our only foundation of the truth of God.
The Lord Jesus is precious He is our foundation and rock.
Those who deny Him are not of God and will be denied.
What think ye of Christ?
Satan will always attack the truth eg. in the garden of Eden and during the temptation of Christ in the wilderness.
In the beginning God created.- there are many today who attack creation, the virgin birth, the resurrection etc. these are essential truths to the Christian faith and although these attacks cannot change the truth the can spoil our enjoyment of them.

The "WORD" is Jesus Christ He expresses who God is to us.
Colossians 2vs.9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
He is God He is equal to the Father, He reveals God to us.
John 14:9  he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 1 vs.14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1 vs.34  And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
He is not a Man with Godlike features He is fully God and fully man.
He became a man but NEVER ceased to be God.
God cannot die but the man who died was God.
They crucified Him they set Him at naught, they did their worst to Him.
He died at Calvary for you He died in your place He took God's judgement instead of you.
Your sin would take Eternity in Hell to pay for, but He bore the judgement for all sin in 3 hours on the cross!
What or who do you compare yourself to? you can never meet God's standard of Holiness, are you going to Heaven. You need to be saved, forgiven. Acts 2 vs.21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
He is life and light.
John 14 vs.6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Gospel Meeting 12/04/2015

Dr. Gareth Crossley read Mark 16 vs.1-12.
and quoted;
Job 19 vs.23  Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24  That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
There are many people who will just refuse to believe in the resurrection although the reasons they give don't hold up to serious scrutiny.
1/ Jesus moved the stone. - They say He didn't die on the cross. But He had been crucified, pierced and beaten and the stone was heavy and it was guarded by soldiers.
2/ The disciples moved the stone and hid His body. - Jesus made 11 appearances after the resurrection and would some of the disciples have died to defend a lie? The Lord asked Thomas to put his finger into the nail wounds.
3/ The authorities moved the stone and hid the body. - It would have served their interests to prove He was dead and they would have displayed His body publicly to prove it.
4/ The women went to the wrong tomb. - The are so many predictions of the resurrection and the testimony of over 500 people afterwards that what tomb they went to is of no significance.
5/It must have been a group hallucination or they dreamt it. - It is ridiculous to imagine that that many people could have experienced the same hallucination or dream.

God moved the stone as a witness that Christ had risen but people will not believe because it means that they would have to accept what God says and what His word teaches us and that would mean a radical (but wonderful) change in their lives.
Christ came from God He is unique.

1 Corinthians 15 vs.3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5  And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6  After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7  After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8  And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Gospel Meeting 05/04/2015

Mr. Mark Reynolds Exodus 3 vs.1-14, John 6 vs.35, 8 vs.12, 10 vs.9-14, 11 vs.25, 14 vs.6, 15 vs.5.
Exodus 3 vs.14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Who is Jesus Christ and why is He qualified to come and die for us.
There are many facets to the person of Christ.
The bread of life.
The light of the world.
I am the door.
The good shepherd.
The resurrection and the life.
The way the truth and the life.
The true vine.
He gives us sustenance, guidance, security, care protection provision, new life abundant life, direction and makes us fruitful.
He died was buried and rose again, we can have Salvation, forgiveness and abundant life through repentance and faith in Him.

Friday 3 April 2015

GOOD FRIDAY 2015

750 WHAT KIND OF LOVE, 987 HERE IS LOVE, 988 HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S,
162 FROM HEAVEN YOU CAME.
John 19 vs.1-16,  John 19 vs.17-42
I love to think about what we remember on Good Friday, although if we had been there it would not have been a pleasant sight, a gory execution. There were many thousands of crucifixions carried out by the Romans so why is this one so important? Jesus didn’t deserve to die, well you might say there have been many miscarriages of justice down through the years yes there has. But Jesus is different He is God He is the Son of God. God sent His Son to die so that He could die the death that we deserve because we are sinners. He bore the judgement of a Holy God for the sin of the whole world. He is the Alpha and Omega, Messiah, Saviour, Redeemer, Mediator.
This is pivotal event in the history of the world, God plan of love towards us in sending His beloved Son to die. There is more involved in the death of Christ than we could ever know. The Father fully accepted the sacrifice of His Son on our behalf. I have just listed a few things for us to meditate upon;

During the intensity of His suffering He cared for Mary and John  - He cares for us.
He had no rest that we might have Eternal rest.
He was thirsty that we might receive living water.
He was forsaken so that we wouldn't be.
He was alone so that we never need to be alone.
He said Father forgive  - He forgives us.
He became offering for sin, that we would be clothed in His righteousness.
He bore the judgement of God so that we could receive Mercy and Grace.
He shed His precious blood to redeem us.
“It is finished”.  - He accomplished and finished the work that the Father had given Him to do to God’s complete satisfaction.
He died that we might live abundant life here and Eternal life in Heaven.
He rose from the dead to give us new spiritual life. He is the firstfruits from among the dead.
He is coming again to take us to be with Him eternally.

So what is my what is your response to Jesus Christ, for those not yet forgiven and in a real relationship with Him repent and trust Him for Salvation.

For those of us who have trusted Him we should decrease and let Him increase in our lives, so that our hearts and minds are one with His.
