Gospel Meeting 29/01/2017

1 Peter 1 vs.1-12.
Joy.
A joy that's inexpressible, unspeakable, and indescribable (Better felt than telt).
Sense it feel it experience it.
vs.8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

John 20 vs.28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Why do we love Him;
1/ Because of what He is?
2/ Because of who He is?
3/ Because of where He is?

1 / He is our Saviour.

Galatians 2 vs.20 the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Son of God and Son of man.
He died a brutal death at Calvary for us.

2/ We love Him not just for the benefits we receive but because of His character, His behaviour and His teaching. He is altogether lovely.

3/ He is in Heaven

John 14 vs.1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Our hearts are there with Him, but it's time to serve Him now.

Psalm 16 vs.11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Philippians 1 vs.21  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Don't search for joy search for Christ and you will find joy.

Gospel Meeting 22/01/2017

Acts 10 vs.34-43.
"The Gift of Peace."
Personal peace.
Objective.
Subjective.
John 14 vs.27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
1/ A legacy of peace.
Colossians 1vs.20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
He is God and man, His deity enables His death to be sufficient for all, His manhood makes it relevant for us. if we repent and believe.
He was crucified to bare the judgement for our sin.
The legacy of peace means we have life righteousness, holiness, peace with God.
God punished His Son Jesus for sin so He can't punish us again if we repent and have faith in Him.
Salvation, pardon, forgiveness. Jesus died for me.
It cost Him everything.
It cost's us nothing.

My peace I give to you, tranquillity of mind and heart.
Philippians 4 vs.6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1 Peter 5 vs.7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

We should be ready for His coming at any time, would we be ashamed? are you ready?

Gospel Meeting 15/01/2017

The reading was Ephesians 2 vs.1-10.
The theory of evolution is convenient for those not wishing to be accountable to God.
We are created in His image.
1/ Alienated from God.
2/ Confused about God.
3/ Spiritually dead to God.

1/ We are cut off from God separated from Him. People either don't know or don't care.
Mankind is different from the animal world, we have an immortal soul and God wants a relationship with Him. We have the freedom to choose, but Satan God's enemy influenced Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and the fellowship was broken.
Romans 3 vs.10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

2/ People are confused about God, baffled. To us who believe it makes perfect sense, Jesus, His teaching, His word.
Psalm 14 vs.1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
They know God exists they just don't want to be answerable to Him.

3/  People are spiritually dead towards God there is no restraint, anarchy.
John 14 vs.6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1/ Reconciliation.
2/ Illumination.
3/ Regeneration.

1/ Jesus brings us back to God, He is the mediator. He has done it all for us He bore the penalty for our sin on the cross. BE RECONCILED.

2/ We need to be enlightened, by receiving the truth in Jesus He is the truth. GET ILLUMINATED.

3/ Be born of God through Christ Jesus. Regenerated, quickened, spiritual life, Born again, resurrected.

Colossians 1 vs.20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Gospel Meeting 08/01/2017

The readings this week were Exodus 20 vs.1-17, Jeremiah 7 vs.1-15, 26 vs.1-9 and Acts 7 vs.1-15.
We were exhorted not to trust in the outward, and not to be complacent.
We can only be saved through Christ, He did the work for us and He fulfilled the law.
He was obedient, He died for sinners, we need to repent and have faith, and trust in His righteousness alone.

Gospel Meeting 01/01/2017

Isaiah 9 vs.6-7, Luke 1 vs.31-32, Luke 2 vs.10-11

As we arrive into a new year 2017 there are so many uncertainties facing us as individuals, a nation and the world. Some circumstances can get very worrying, but to know Jesus Christ personally gives us absolute reassurance about the future, Hebrews 13vs.8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
And nothing can separate us from His love.
In the verses we read in Isaiah 9 vs.6 it is almost as if Isaiah couldn’t find sufficient words to describe Him, he starts with wonderful that is a word that I for one overuse I might say that I have had a wonderful Christmas and you would know what I meant by it, but Isaiah means more than that he means that He is so special, mysterious and secret that He can’t be described, in the sense that He is God and is beyond our understanding.
The next one is counsellor, someone who guides and helps us through tricky situations in our lives and who better than Jesus Christ Himself, men are fallible.

Matthew 11vs.28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Romans 11 vs.33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

Psalm 119 vs.105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Many scholars say the comma shouldn’t be there and the passage should read wonderful counsellor, but with my simple mind I believe with or without the comma both ways are true, He is wonderful, He is a counsellor, and He is a wonderful counsellor.

The next description of Jesus is the mighty God. He is the Almighty the one who is greater than all and is above all. He is God the Son.

The everlasting father. There is continuity with Jesus Christ; He is not different every time you go to Him. He is always there to love, protect and nurture us as a father would.

He is the prince of peace
Philippians 4 vs.7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Romans 5 vs.1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Colossians 1 vs.20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

This verse seems to have been very popular this year and what has struck me particularly are the words UNTO US a child a Son, and in Luke 2 vs. 11 UNTO YOU is born a Saviour.
God knows exactly what we need and He loves us so much He sent His Son to be our Saviour. He saves us from the judgement due to us for our sin because God is Holy; He paid the full price when He shed His precious blood at Calvary. He was crucified, He died the death we deserved to make it possible that we could be totally forgiven through repentance and faith in Him alone, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

It is UNTO US and UNTO YOU that Jesus came, we don’t need to wander aimlessly and end up in a lost eternity and face God’s wrath, but God has made extraordinary provision for us that can’t be bettered. He is our Saviour He is wonderful, He is our counsellor, He is the mighty God, He is our everlasting father, and He is our prince of peace.
