Sunday 24th February

Speaker: Gareth Crossley (Blackbrook)

Reading: Ephesians Ch. 2 vs. 1-10.

In verses 1-3 we have described to us what a person is like before they become a Christian:
  • dead in trespasses and sins;
  • walking according to the course of this world;
  • conducting ourselves in the lusts of our flesh;
  • by nature children of wrath.
But God, who is merciful because of His great love for us has made us alive with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Gospel Meeting 17/02/2013

Mr. John Clegg from Skelmanthorpe read Mark 4 vs. 35-41 and 5 vs.1
He spoke about a Great Storm which is like the lives of the unsaved whose destination is Hell.
                            Great Calm there is one person who can bring you from a Great Storm to a Great Calm through faith in Him Jesus cares about us and came to die on a cross so that we can have
The Calm of sins forgiven.
The Calm of knowing that we will see Him one day.
The Calm of being with Him.
The Calm of being like Him.
The Calm of knowing that we shall reign with Him.
"Let us pass over to the other side" Mark 4 vs.35
"And they came over to the other side" Mark 5 vs.1
If He says it it will come to pass God's promises will never fail, He will come again.

Sunday 10th February 2013

Speaker: Alistair Pattison (York)

Reading: John 8: 12-20

Topic: Light of the world

Jesus said in John 8 v.12: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Jesus was the only one who could say that statement of Himself. He was revealing to the people gathered who He really and truly was. He makes it clear in that statement that there is no other light that has come, that is, or that will be but that it is Him who is The Light. Jesus asks us to believe on Him that we will have this light and also life. Jesus also said, "I am the way, the truth and the life." Jesus brings both light and life into our lives through faith in Him.

GOSPEL MEETING 03/02/2013

Mr. Rex Maffey read Genisis 45 vs.1-11 and spoke about vs. 9-11 drawing out the comparisons between Joseph and the Lord Jesus Christ. Also he spoke about the message that Joseph sent to Jacob and again compared that to the Gospel message. It was urgent, it was from the Lord, acceptance would result in blessings, if refused there is a warning of poverty and death. No God, no Christ, no hope. If sin is not dealt with Hell is final. God's love and resourses are untold- accept or refuse.
