GOSPEL MEETING 24/03/2013

Mr. Stan Chappellow read John 12 vs.12-16
He spoke about journeys and travelling, he then spoke about the Lords journey and His anticipation of the forthcoming events he mentioned that after His crucifixion there would no longer be any need for any other sacrifices.
There will be no sin that will ever enter Heaven so He had gone to prepare a place for us knowing that He would pay the price and redeem us at Calvary and gain the victory over sin and death and Satan.
He is coming again to take those who have trusted Him to Heaven but in the meantime we should be serving Him and laying up treasure in Heaven ready for that soon coming day.

Sunday 17 March 2013

Sunday 17th March

Speaker: Scott Armstrong (Killamarsh)

Reading: Luke 19:1-10

Topic: Zacchaeus

Jesus was interested in Zacchaeus (Zac), He is also interested in you.

Zac was determined to meet Jesus. He couldn't see Him because of all the crowd so he climbed up into a tree where Jesus would be passing by. Jesus passed by the tree, looked up and spoke to Zac. You too will find Jesus if you seek Him.

Jesus asked Zac if He could stay at his house; Zac received Him with joy. Jesus offers us salvation if we let Him into our lives. Let Jesus into your life and receive the joy that Zac experienced.

Jesus went to stay with a sinner; Zac was not perfect. Jesus will receive you too if you repent of your sin and follow Him.

Zac's life changed after that; he gave half his belongings to the poor and gave four times the amount back to people he had cheated. When someone trusts Jesus there will be a change in their life for the better.

Gospel Meeting - Sunday 10th March 2013

Speaker: Stephen Downes

Reading: Psalm 14:1-4
              Psalm 139: 1-17
              Psalm 102: 19-21

Subject: Looking Down and Coming Down

Psalm 14 reads: The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.

Psalm 139 tells us that God knows all about us and even understands our thoughts.

God not only looked down but He came down. God came in the person of Jesus because He loved us and wanted to demonstrate His love. He came at a time appointed by God to be the Saviour of the world. He came to die for our sins.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

Topic: Prayer

Prayer is about speaking to God the since thoughts of our heart and not simply saying things other people have written or said. Jesus gave a lesson on prayer, He taught about how to pray (not what to pray).

The prayer begins with addressing God. It is a special privilege of the believer to call God our Father. We are to remember in our address that God is in heaven and give Him the respect that His position deserves.

There are six pleas in the prayer; three God-ward and three man-ward.

1) We are to make His name holy.
2) To look for His Kingdom.
3) We are to desire for His will be be done.

4) God provides us our needs (bread) day by day.
5) As God has forgiven us we by the same measure are to forgive others.
6) We can commit to God our desire not to be led into sin.

The conclusion of the prayer gives recognition to the Supreme, Almighty God who we are to submit to and serve.
