Gospel Meeting 29/12/2013

Gareth Crossley read Isaiah 55 vs.1-13
He concentrated on vs.6-7
6 ¶  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
God's invitation is urgent and it is from Jehovah and it will not always be available.
There are those who love God who benefitting from all His blessings
There are those who don't love God and who have no time for Him how can they expect to receive blessings from Him now or in the future there is only judgement.
Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Everyone will stand before God in that day.
Change is necessary, all fall between wicked to unrighteous it is all inclusive.
God works from the inside out, come to Christ first and He will change you from the inside it is no good just trying to give up bad things.
He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. Through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the cross we can be "washed in His blood" He was despised and rejected God knew and gave His Son for us. "He will save His people from their sins."
Every sin was laid upon Him and He paid the price. He will remember our sins no more.
Just like the Prodigal Son we can be welcomed back by the Father.

Gospel/Carol Service 22/12/2013

Paul Jackson Isaiah 9 vs.6-7,Micah 5vs.2, Luke 2 vs.6-7 &11-13 and Isaiah 7 vs.14 in between the Carols. He read from Matthew 1 vs.1, and vs.18-25.
Paul centred his thoughts around Joseph.
1/ His Family.
2/ His Fidelity.
3/ His Fear.
4/ What was Foretold.
5/ His Faith.

First of all we heard about the accuracy of Prophecy right down to the tiny details, and also about the greatness of the Lord Jesus but how that He came in a humble way.
1/ Family was even more important then than it is now and we are given both the genealogies of Mary and Joseph but they were both sinners but Jesus was born of God and He did no sin, He knew no sin, in Him was no sin.
2/ He knew the baby wasn't his and he could have publicly disgraced Mary but he was going to do the decent thing and put her away discretely.
3/ He was afraid but was told to fear not and to take Mary to be his wife. Are we afraid to put our trust in God what is it that prevents us? whatever it is fear not because Salvation is greater than your fear.
4/ He was told to call His name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins. He bore our sins in His body on the tree. He came that we one day could be with Him.
5/ He obeyed and called His name Jesus straight away. Will you obey and trust Him now.
Romans 10 vs.9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Gospel Meeting 15/12/2013

Phillip Gibson read 2 Corinthians 8 vs. 1-12
His subject was the ABC of Christmas, he challenged us about our giving.
Phillip centred his thoughts around-
2 Corinthians 8 vs.9  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
Material wealth fades away but we can be rich in the things that really matter, Grace, Love, Peace, Joy, and Kindness, these are the riches we can display to others in our lives because Jesus became poor and He died for us on the cross.

Colossians 1 vs.5  For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6  Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

Ephesians1 vs.7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
It will not always be plain sailing and when we fail God's love is extended to us even more to get through it.

These riches can only be enjoyed by those who have turned from their sin and put their complete faith and trust in the Lord Jesus who died for us.

Saturday 14 December 2013

Gospel Meeting 08/12/2013

Laurence Jones read Psalm 115, Luke 23 vs.26-49.
He highlighted vs.43  " And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."
Are you, Will you be going to Paradise? If so on what basis?
some say "I hope to," others "yes" but with no foundation, yet others say "no - there is no such place."
The Foundation of Assurance;
1/Who assures- Jesus said assuredly.
Thief recognised Jesus had a future Kingdom.
Thief understood that Christ alone could let him in.
Thief knew Christ was sinless, and called Him Lord.

2/Nature of Assurance.
Grace and kindness of God all undeserved by us, and not by works of our own.
By grace you have been saved.
Hope for the hopeless and worst of sinners.

3/Promise of Assurance.
Upon death the believers soul goes  straight to be with the Lord. Today you will be with me in Paradise. There is no purgatory The cross is all sufficient. Today no soul sleep it will be "TODAY."

Conclusion
So what about you are you going to heaven on these foundations, we must come by faith like the thief.
All have sinned and fallen short.
Do you know this promise of assurance personally.

Gospel Meeting 01/12/2013

Mr David Richardson read 1 Thessalonians 4 vs.13,16 and 17.
He reminded us about all the terrible news at the moment and he spoke about the good and cheerful news.
David first of all explained why we needed Salvation and how that sin had come in through Adam and Eve, and that sin had driven a wedge between us and God.
Isaiah 59 vs.2  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
The wages of sin is death so God sent a Messiah to save us from sin and an Eternity in Hell and make us fit for Heaven.
Matthew 3 vs.17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Jesus is God's beloved Son He was the perfect sacrifice who dealt with all our sin, He defeated death and He is in Heaven now.
There were young believers asking questions and in 1 Thessalonians 4 vs.16-17
 we have the answers,
He is coming to take those who love Him to be with Him Eternally.
For those who believe we have a certain hope, we have Eternal security and we have comfort because God's purposes will be worked out.
If you are not saved you can have this too if you put your trust in Jesus and repent of your sin.
David then reminded us about the A,B,C.
Accept you are a sinner.
Believe in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and Salvation.
Change your life and commit it to Him.

Gospel Meeting 24/11/2013

Thomas Truman gave a report of the work of the Leeds City Mission. The new venture of the Charity Shop called Re-Store is proving a valuable way to reach out with the Gospel, the prison and young offenders work is experiencing problems but is progressing.
He read Matthew 13 vs.24-30 and 36-43
Thomas spoke about thanksgiving and harvest, parable were a way of speaking to stiff-necked people.
There were those who responded to the message and those who didn't. God must punish sin, sinners need forgiveness but men love darkness rather than light. Jesus died to take the punishment for our sin on the cross was buried and rose again we need to repent and put our faith in Him.

Monday 18 November 2013

Gospel Meeting 17/11/2013

Bruce Clark read Romans 7 vs.1 - 8 vs.4 and Luke18 vs.9-14
He spoke about the Creative Advance of the Spirit of God in the trinity and how the Spirit  hovered over the waters and although often neglected He is essential in the Godhead. He manifested the love of God through creation.
In Christ all things hold together.

In Luke 18 we see two opposites law and grace.
under the law of God we see powerless man separation and mans failure we have an impasse.
The Pharisee sees God as distant, a requirement to keep rules , a contract to keep.
God's Redemptive Advance our close relationship with God is not distant it is about love, you can't command someone to love.
the Pharisee failed he had a wrong perception of God and of himself he thought he was alright.  He was high and dry.
The law can't change us it gives us a sense of failure when we have to rely on ourselves which leads to pride, defeat and rebellion.
Grace brings forgiveness reconciliation and unity it throws us upon God.
Jesus bore the curse of the law for us there is now no condemnation for those in Christ. For what the law could not do  Jesus did He brought reconciliation through grace. Creative Advance.
Grace changes hearts the law can't. We died with Him - The power of the cross.
there is more to it than keeping rules God loves us we are in the good of Christ's death on the cross. Don't walk a treadmill or tightrope, be in the good of an intimate relationship with God.
If we sin we have an advocate with the Father His Son.
The danger for the publican would then have been to look down on the Pharisee, don't become a Pharisee remain humble.

Monday 11 November 2013

Gospel Meeting 10/11/2013

Paul Frankish read the book of Philemon
1/ The Facts.
2/ The Gospel.
3/ Lessons for Christians.

1/ It is a letter written to a master about his runaway slave and as such is unique in nature in the Scriptures. Paul is appealing to Philemon as a believer a friend and one who is in Paul's debt on behalf of a runaway slave Onesimus who at one time was of no use to him but has now been born again and has been of great value to Paul who is beseeching Philemon to receive him back as a brother and not insist on imposing the law which would have meant the death penalty for a runaway slave.

2/ We are slaves to sin and the wages of sin is death, as Paul was prepared to pay the price for Onesimus so Jesus paid the price for us to be free to be forgiven by dying on the cross. we don't just receive forgiveness but we become children of God and become heirs. As Paul mediated for Onesimus, so Christ is the one mediator between God and men.
Although Onesimus probably was fearful as he returned wondering what reception he would receive from Philemon we should have no fear in coming to God we have confidence in Jesus Christ that He has prepared the way for us we just need to accept Him by faith.

3/ We should care for others. We should always be thankful. We should be mutually identified with fellow believers and be encouraged and encourage by the demonstration of love. There should be no class system with believers all equal in Him.

Monday 4 November 2013

Gospel Meeting 03/11/2013

Gareth Crossley read 1 Peter 1 vs.1-12.
He spoke about earthly problems compared to spiritual blessings.
Gareth then spoke about the Gospel under three headings.
1/ It's not new - from vs. 10 the Prophets have inquired and even as far back as Genesis 3 vs.15 it speaks of a Suffering Saviour. He would suffer yet succeed. Suffering and glory.
He came to suffer.
He will come in glory.
2/ It's not cheap - purchased by Christ, not redeemed with corruptible things but with His precious blood.
Not only did He never sin He was completely righteous and He laid down His life for me.
God does not go into detail about how Jesus suffered He doesn't want our sympathy He wants our Love and devotion. It cost Him everything, we can't be part time Christians it's full time with no retirement.
3/ It's not secret - it was spoken by the Apostles through the Holy Spirit, and we have the commission to go into all the world with confidence because He has ALL AUTHORITY. Also we know that all things work together for good.
He also noted in vs.12 that even the Angels desired to look into these things.

Saturday 2 November 2013

Gospel Meeting 27/10/2013

Craig Maffey read 1 John1 vs.5-10
vs.7 and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Blood is central to the truth of the Bible without it there is no hope you cannot have a bloodless Gospel.
Craig spoke about three headings; 1 The necessity of the blood.
necessary for physical life and Spiritual life. It is the only way to be cleansed and made right with God - Heaven or Hell.
2 The preciousness of the blood.
The Lord Jesus is the Son of God no other blood would do. He shed His precious blood for you.
3 The significance of the blood.
It cleanses us from all sin, He paid the price in full but we must receive it ourselves by putting our faith in Him.

Monday 21 October 2013

Gospel Meeting 20/10/2013

Mr. Stuart Gordon read Genesis 1 vs.26-31, 2 vs.1-10, Matthew 26 vs.36-46 and John 19 vs.40-42, 20 vs.1-18
He spoke about three gardens; Eden The Perfect Garden.
                                                 Gethsemane The Prayerful Garden.
                                                 Tomb The Powerful Garden.
Stuart described how that man was a superior being to the rest of creation, he was made in the image of God. There was only one rule that God gave and they broke it which then created a separation between God and man.
God is never surprised He had a plan to rescue man from sin.
Judas had witnessed so many things throughout his time with Jesus but he still betrayed Him for 30 pieces of silver. It was God's plan that His Son would die on the cross and nothing could stop that happening.
He stayed on the cross out of love for us.
Paradise is where He is.
Christ died was buried and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, He will live forever.
He knows us  and we should recognise Him and put our trust in Him that He bore our sin on the cross.
One thief accepted Him - Today you will be in Paradise.
One thief rejected Him - Depart from Me I never knew you.
What choice will you make?

Monday 14 October 2013

Gospel Meeting 13/10/2013

Mr. Phillip Richardson read Ezra1 vs1-4, Isaiah 44 vs.21- 45 vs.6 and Daniel1 vs.17-21.
He began by emphasising the authenticity of the Bible from cover to cover as the inspired and literal Word of God.
He went on to explain how that sin came into the world and that the wages of sin is death, which means eternal torment in Hell. BUT Jesus is God's Son who was born of a virgin, died on a cross, rose again and ascended back to heaven. We can find peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Phillip then went on to tell us about Cyrus the great king of Persia and pointed out the comparisons between Jesus Christ and Cyrus.
He was named before His birth.
He was used by God to save His people.
He was called a shepherd.
He was anointed.
God's plan was already in place before ruin.

He then spoke about how that God controls nations and kings and that God is always in control, but even though He is so great He cares for us and He spared not His only Son who died for us, "if God be for us who can be against us."
Daniel was in the right place at the right time and Phillip put this forward as a suggestion that Daniel could have been there advising Cyrus about letting the people go according to Isaiah's prophecy.
We can make a difference and God can use us for His purposes, "that the scripture might be fulfilled."
We can put our trust in the Almighty God for Salvation.

Monday 7 October 2013

Gospel Meeting 06/10/2013

Mr David Cartwright read Mark 10 vs. 45-52 Bartimaeus.
He cried out "Jesus thou son of David have mercy on me
He acknowledged who Jesus was, and he acknowledged his need.

The Apostle Paul was someone who at first persecuted Christians but then he accepted that Jesus had made Himself of no reputation but God had exalted Him and given Him a name above every name. Paul changed, his life was turned around.

Bartimaeus took the opportunity as Jesus was passing through Jericho he cried out
The rich man missed out in Luke 16 he didn't take his opportunity. Don't miss this opportunity tonight.
We can't pay for or earn our Salvation and every sin has to be paid for, Jesus paid the price when He died on the cross to bear God's judgement for sin so that we wouldn't have to.
The people told Bartimaeus to be quiet but Jesus stopped and stood still, He will always listen to those who cry out to Him.
Bartimaeus answered Jesus and said that he wanted to receive his sight after Jesus had asked him what he wanted. What would you ask for money, fame, power, or would you ask for forgiveness and Salvation.
He left behind his garment that was of value to him and came to Jesus don't let anything hold you back, his Faith gave him his sight his first view was Jesus.
Salvation is just the start we need to grow in Grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and serve Him.

Monday 30 September 2013

Gospel Meeting 29/09/2013

Mr. Brian Dunning read Esther 6 vs.1-13, Genesis 3 vs.1-10 &21 and parts of Revelation 3, Isaiah 64, Zechariah 3 John 19, Luke 15, and Matthew 22.
His subject was "A change of clothes"
Adam tried to clothe himself but he was still naked before God, God provided clothing for them. Genesis 3.
Mordecai had his sackcloth replaced by the Kings own clothes. God clothes us with Jesus. Esther 6
Riches are no good we cannot provide salvation for ourselves. Revelation.3.
Religion is no good filthy garments. Zechariah. 3
Respectability is no good either filthy rags. Isaiah 64
God wants to make us righteous in Jesus.
The Cost. The death and humiliation of Christ He was naked so that we could be clothed, no fault in Him. John 19.
The Condition. The prodigal lived as if his father was dead, he had to come back to his father who welcomed him and gave him the best robe. Luke 15.
The Consequence  He had refused a wedding garment thinking he was ok as he was without God's provision judgement followed. Matthew 22
often in scripture our clothing represents our deeds which are never good enough but we can be clothed in the righteousness of Christ and be accepted by God.

Monday 23 September 2013

Gospel Meeting 22/09/2013

Mr. Neil Bedford read Psalm 139
He spoke about how amazing the universe is and how we appreciate its wonders but very often we overlook how amazing our bodies are, but more importantly how valuable we are to God. We are not here by accident and because God created us He adds value to our lives. How to we value our lives, do our lives reflect the power of God is He at the centre. Jesus gave His life for you, He died on the cross, He rose again from the dead we need to repent and put our faith in Him. He wants to use us to serve Him and then our lives will have true value

Monday 16 September 2013

Gospel Meeting 15/09/2013

Mr. Paul Jackson read Matthew 27 vs.45-54, Luke23 vs.33-34,&39-47, and John 19 vs. 25-30.
His subject was the 7 sayings from the cross.
3 addressed to man
3 addressed to God
1 addressed to the whole universe.
1/The Lord Jesus had a very close relationship with His Father and spent much time in prayer. He had power on earth to forgive sin. "Father forgive them."
2/He felt much pain and suffering and He is our Great High Priest. "I thirst."
3/The Son of God loved me and gave Himself for me, He is a personal Saviour and cares for us as individuals even when on the cross with so much going on He could say "behold thy mother, behold thy son."
4/So much was achieved at the cross , through faith one thief responded. "today though shalt be with me in Paradise."
5/We are never forsaken, He bore the punishment for our sin. We just have to accept it by faith. "my God my God why hast thou forsaken me."
6/The price was paid in full.
He paid a debt He did not owe;
I owed a debt I could not pay;
I needed someone to wash my sins away.
And, now, I sing a brand new song,
“Amazing Grace.”
Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.

He paid that debt at Calvary.
He cleansed my soul and set me free.
I'm glad that Jesus did all my sins erase.
I, now, can sing a brand new song,
“Amazing Grace.”
Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.

One day He's coming back for me
To live with Him eternally.
Won't it be glory to see Him on that day!
I, then, will sing a brand new song,
“Amazing Grace.”
Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.
Yes, Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.

Addressed to the whole Universe "it is finished."
7/The centurion glorified God surely this was a Son of God. Only He could say "Father into your hands I commit my Spirit."
What is your response to Him like the centurion will you acknowledge Him.

Monday 9 September 2013

Gospel Meeting 08/09/2013

Numbers 21 vs.4-9, Psalm 78 vs.1-12 & 35-39. John 3 vs.14-15&36.
The people of Israel were God’s chosen people and He had done great things for them, He had brought them out of slavery, He had destroyed the army of their enemies at the Red Sea, He had promised them a land flowing with milk and honey, He had provided them with food and water on the journey, He had given them so many blessing and yet they still rebelled against Him and questioned His authority and power.
Numbers 11 vs.1 They complained- God sent fire.

Numbers 11vs.4 They complained about food – God sent a plague.

Numbers 14 vs.1-4 They complained about being in the wilderness – they were not allowed to enter the promised land.

Numbers 16 vs.41 They complained about Moses and Aaron- God sent another plague.

Numbers 20 vs. 2-3 They complained about the lack of water – Moses disobeyed and was not permitted to lead the people into the promised land.

Numbers 21 vs.5 They complained about being in the wilderness and about the food and water – God sent fiery serpents into the camp.

Now with hindsight it is easy to criticise them but do we do the same do we bring God down to our level, when our problems seem enormous to us do we forget God’s love and power, or do we just use God as a one stop shop to go to when we have a problem. God expects, demands, and deserves far more than that. Sometimes we can’t understand why God does or doesn’t do certain things but we can rest assured that God’s plan is the right one and He is never limited in what He can do or what He can give us , it is always in His time in His way and it is always the best for us. I am not saying it is easy but we must learn to trust Him He is the Almighty God.

This passage in Numbers 21 is very interesting and many lessons can be gleaned from it.
Vs.4 The people were discouraged.

Vs.5 The people complained against God and against Moses.

Vs. 6 God’s response.

Vs. 7 The peoples remorse.

Vs. 8 God provides a remedy.

Vs.9 Moses obeys God’s instruction and healing is possible.

Vs. 4 The people expected it to be straight forward but when they realised it was going to be a long journey  they got impatient and were grieved, but if they had travelled the way that they had expected to they would have faced more difficulties. They thought they knew better than God.

Psalm 78 vs.7  That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

8  And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

Vs.5 Their complaint was first of all against God and then also Moses as God’s representative. The Prodigal Son in Luke 15 recognises that he had sinned against Heaven first of all and also against his father.

Their complaints were not strictly true God had made provision for them but they weren’t satisfied with what God had given them.

Psalm 78 vs.10  They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

11  And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

He is a great God and a giving God.

Philippians  4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Vs. 6 God needed to teach them to rely on Him and that He was the one they should worship apparently these snakes were common in the wilderness but they hadn’t been troubled with them before God had been protecting them it was a painful lesson for them.

Deuteronomy 8 vs.15  Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

16  Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

Vs.7 The peoples response was to realise that they had sinned they were aware of what they had done wrong but they were still only interested in the serpents being taken away. We can be like that too we can be interested in Salvation for what we get out of it and not bow before God for who He is.

Vs. 8 God provides a means of healing which requires an act of faith on their behalf and was available to them all individually and they would know that their healing was completely given by God who had protected them up to this time of their disobedience.

Vs. 9 Moses did as God had said and healing was then available to all who looked they had a choice the serpent on a pole was accessible to all.

It is interesting to see in 2 Kings 18 that the serpent was destroyed because they had turned it into a God to worship it

2 Kings 18 vs.1 ¶  Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2  Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

3  And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

4  He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. ( a thing of brass).

Hebrews 12 vs.1 ¶  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

We need to be forgiven for our sin and our sinful nature needs to be dealt with. God has provided a remedy it is up to us to look up to the cross of the Lord Jesus recognising our with faith believing He will save and He will. All who looked at the serpent on the pole lived and all who turn to Christ will be saved.

John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

How foolish to have the opportunity to be saved and to ignore it, it is a marvellous thing to have a relationship with the living God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Monday 2 September 2013

Gospel Meeting 01/09/2013

Mr. Dave Harris read 1 Peter 2 vs.1-10, Ephesians 2 vs.7, and Ephesians 3 vs6-10
He spoke about forgiveness  and the heritage that is ours when we are saved
He mentioned being a believer, a Christian and a saint and encouraged us to have commitment.

Monday 26 August 2013

Gospel Meeting 25/08/2013

Mr. Mick Wajdner gave a short message based on Joshua 2 and Hebrews 11 vs.30-40
He spoke about
An improbable event.
and An impossible situation.
Communication, Conviction, and Commitment.
Rahab heard then believed and then rested on the promise.
There is no escape without the mercy of God, He is the God of the impossible.
The Son of God dying on a cross to pay the price for our sin is an improbable event.and an impossible situation, but through it Salvation is available to us through faith.
Mick then gave a report of the work done for the Lord by SASRA. The Scripture Readers have a unique and amazing opportunity to speak to the Armed Forces about the Gospel as they are a captive audience but also are available to help and council them. there are many that have trusted the Saviour through this work and we will continue to pray for them.

Monday 19 August 2013

Gospel Meeting 18/08/2013

REPORT.
Mr. Phil. Benstead gave a report on the work in Northern Cyprus.
He read Acts 13 vs.4-12 to show that there has been a Gospel influence in Cyprus since then, and that its geographical position is significant.
The church has a Turkish speaking part and an English speaking part which is made up of several different nationalities including many African students.
There has been 13 baptisms this year.
The Cypriot people in the north have a very strong national identity which intrinsically includes being Islamic so it is very difficult to reach them as it would mean them being cut off from family and friends if they were saved.
There is a good work going on with the students.
A book table is also used on the Greek side of the border.
So lots of encouraging things happening but still a great need for prayer especially for the local people.

GOSPEL.
Mr. Alan Green read Mark 10 vs.17-34
This man had an important question and he had some knowledge of the Lord Jesus and he realised that Jesus would be able to answer his question. We now have far more knowledge of Him and yet are we going to let the opportunity pass us by.
God is very patient and slow to anger and merciful.
This mans priority was wealth he turned away, how sad.
Mr 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
What is our response, God must punish sin. He sent His Son to be our Saviour, He came as a babe in Bethlehem  and grew and eventually died on the cross of Calvary to pay the penalty for our sin.
JOHN 3 vs.16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We must come to repentance and faith. we have a choice like this man had will you turn away or accept Jesus as your Saviour.

Gospel Meeting 11/08/2013

Mr. Josh Kaye read John 14 vs.1-18, 6 vs.16-21 and Acts 3 vs.1-10.
1/ Finding Fulfilment.
2/ Abandoning Anxiety.
3/ Receiving Happiness.
1/Although a government survey says that our lives are improving these things can only be fully experienced by knowing Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
We need a Saviour because we have fallen short of God's standard and we are not fit for Heaven. Our Souls can only be satisfied in the Lord Jesus Christ the water is a picture of this. and we can receive the water that He gives and we will receive Everlasting Life. He took our place when He died on the cross to save us from going to Hell.
2/ We are in danger if we are still in our sin and we should be anxious because we will have to face the consequences of it. God punished His Son for our sin if we don't accept Him we will be lost in our sin. We should let Christ in to our hearts and lives and He will take away our guilt and anxiety. Let Him In.
3/Being saved doesn't take away our problems but through the power of the Lord Jesus we can be content in our Salvation. He can put you on the narrow road that leads to life.
Will you trust Him tonight. Through His cross, death and resurrection we can have Salvation by having Faith towards the Lord Jesus Christ.
and repentance towards God.
Then we will have Eternal Life.
We will Find Fulfilment.
Abandon Anxiety about Eternity.
Receive Contentment and Happiness.

Gospel Meeting 04/08/2013

Mr. Richard Malcolm read the first part of Isaiah 38 vs.20 and John 14 vs.1-3
 He spoke about being ready.
He is ready to save us are we ready to let Him.
We need saving from sin, people today to not have a correct view of sin and in some ways it has become fashionable to sin but God hates sin it is disobedience to Him and we can fool everyone but we can't fool God, "the wages of sin is death" there are two destinations Heaven or Hell.
God sent His Son to die on a cross to pay the price for our sin, He was punished for all the sins we have committed it makes it personnel.
He rose again and He is ready, willing and able to save you are you ready to trust Him. He always keeps all His promises He will never let you down. "Now is the accepted time." He is coming again you can meet Him as your Saviour or your Judge,

Monday 29 July 2013

Gospel Meeting 28/07/2013

Mr. Alex Collins read John 6 vs.1-15, 26, 53-56, and 66-69.
First of all he challenged us about starvation throughout the world when we have so much.
He reminded us that Jesus Christ is not indifferent to our need He knows we are like sheep without a shepherd. He Healed, He Taught, He had Compassion.
We can either look at what we don't have or look at what we do have but either way the task of feeding the multitude with five loaves and two fishes was beyond them. we should be prepared to let the Lord use what we have for His Glory.
Men wanted to make Him king without the cross, but without the cross  His shed blood death and resurrection we are lost. We must have a close relationship with God and place our implicit trust in Jesus Christ to be saved and raised up at the last day.

Monday 22 July 2013

Gospel Meeting 21/07/2013

Mr. David Flett read Luke 2 vs.1-20, Acts16 vs.16-34, and Matthew 19 vs.16-22.
There were three headings: A Saviour Born.
                                            A Saviour Accepted.
                                            A Saviour Rejected.
A Saviour Born.
We all need a Saviour because all have sinned, so God sent His Beloved Son who is Holy and without sin because He loves us and doesn't want us to die in our sin. He left the highest place and took the lowest place and died on a cross. He didn't become a Saviour He was born a Saviour the lovely man Christ Jesus.

A Saviour Accepted.
The Jailor was in a state of desperation and he cried out "Sirs what must I do to be saved" he knew he needed a Saviour, there is only one way to get saved and that is by faith in the Lord Jesus. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." His life was changed from a harsh Jailor to a caring person.

A Saviour Rejected.
He was a good man but there was one thing holding him back it was his riches. God knows us individually it might not be riches holding us back but something else whatever it is its not worth preventing you from trusting Jesus as your Saviour. "He must increase I must decrease." It is not by being good or doing good it is by faith and all the Glory belongs to Him.

Monday 15 July 2013

Gospel Meeting 14/07/2013.

Mr. Keith Clayton read John 14 vs.6-14 and Philippians 3 vs.6-16
He asked us how well we knew him and what we knew about him. He said we could know of him or about him but to know him would involve a lot of time and conversation and observation.
What do you know of Jesus.
What do you know about Jesus.
How well do you know Jesus.
You can know that He is innocent but was given a death sentence to pay the price for sin.
That is a start but to know Him you need to accept Him as your Saviour. spend time with Him get to know Him personally, He knows you intimately how well do you know Him and what does He mean to you. He loves you He died so that your sin could be forgiven.

Monday 8 July 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 07/07/2013

Mr. George Clamp read Acts 1 vs.9-11 and from 1 Cor.15
His subject was "Where would we be if the Lord Jesus hadn't come."
No Sacrifice.
No Forgiveness.
No Holy Spirit sent.
No Place in Heaven for us who believe.
No Gospel (Good News).
No Salvation.
No Hope.
No New Life.
BUT He did come.
We have all these thing through a simple faith in the Lord Jesus and His work at Calvary. He changes lives. All these things are available to all who come to Him in repentance and faith.

Monday 1 July 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 30/06/2013

Song of Solomon 1vs.1-6, 2 vs.3-4, 16, 5 vs.7-16, 7 vs.10-13, 8 vs.6-7.

The Song of Solomon is a story of love between King Solomon and a Shulamite woman. He was a very rich and powerful king he is also referred to as a shepherd, the woman is poor and worked in the vineyards but she was beautiful and caught the eye of the king. There is a saying that true love never runs smooth and we can see that through the Song. The Song of Solomon uses intense and intimate language and describes;

Intense Passion.

Complete Adoration.

Utter Devotion.

Total Commitment.

Because it speaks about a deep loving  relationship people have often used it as a description of the relationship between God and the Jewish nation, or between Christ and the Church (His Bride), or to express the love between The Lord Jesus and us as individuals, which is what I would like to enlarge on a little tonight.

The Lord Jesus as the very rich and powerful King who is also described as The Good Shepherd. And us who are poor and worthless and have no claim upon His affections.

1 vs.1-6    She is totally taken up with Him and is longing for that closeness and intimacy that only marriage brings and is completely absorbed with Him and no other and the parallel is very obvious – we should be totally taken up with our Saviour and be devoted to Him, she was conscious that others might not have a good opinion of her because of her appearance but she knew that He loved her. God loves us despite our failings (and He knows them all), but His love is unconditional. The anticipation of the consummation of their relationship is evident in the way she speaks.

2 vs.3-4 She appreciates that He is outstanding from all others and there is no comparison He is unique, she enjoys His company she loves being in His presence and He has been able to provide her with many blessings and she is totally confident and comfortable in His love.

2 vs.16 Ownership of each other as a part of a loving relationship, she is also aware of His activities and location.

5 vs.9-16 The question is asked by the young women what is different about her beloved why is He so special she starts with 10 reasons;

1/ White and ruddy, The chiefest among ten thousand.  Spotless purity.

2/   His head is as the most fine gold.    Divine wisdom and glory.

3/ His locks are bushy, and black as a raven.  Youthful strength and vigour.

4/ His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set.   Tenderness and compassion.

5/ His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers. Closeness and fragrance.

6/ His lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.  Words of grace peace and pardon.

7/ His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl.  The beauty and preciousness of His work (they were pierced).

8/ His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. The deep tender feelings of Christ love compassion joy etc.

9/ His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold. his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.  Pillars of strength and His impeccable walk.

10/ His mouth is most sweet: yea.  Sweetness and purity (the kisses of His mouth).

All these things do not seem sufficient to describe her beloved so she overflows in praise of Him

he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

There is nothing that is wrong with Him (I find no fault in Him).

She is not ashamed to speak of Him to others and feels honoured to be associated with Him.

7 vs.10-13 She feels loved and appreciated and she is enjoying His affection, He expects and she is more than willing to share in the preparation and protection of the harvest, it is important to both of them they have the same interests and desires. (The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Mt 9:37.)

8 vs.6-7 You cannot put a price on love, God is love. We love Him because He first loved us 1 John 4 vs.19

Jealousy destroys but love is greater.

Romans 8 vs.31-39.

Because it is a song it is sometimes difficult to interpret and sometimes difficult to specify who is speaking at any one time as it often changes without warning, but the main lesson we can benefit from is the tremendous self sacrificing love shown to us by our Saviour. Intense Passion. Complete Adoration. Utter Devotion. Total Commitment. Whilst we could never match the intensity of these things to our Saviour’s we should in some measure demonstrate our love and commitment to Him.

Monday 24 June 2013

Gospel Meeting Sunday 23rd June

Speaker: Jim Locke (Harehills, Leeds)

Reading: Genesis: 6:5-6 & 7:1,15,16
                Matthew: 24:36-42
                Hebrews 11:6-7
                2 Peter 3:1-13

Noah was a righteous man in a generation that had abandoned God. God told Noah to build an ark, which he did, and God judged the world through a flood. Noah and his family were saved because they believed God and entered the ark.

Jesus said the last days would be like the days of Noah when people would be enjoying the pleasures of the world and leaving God out of their lives. The Lord Jesus is coming again in judgement upon those who do not believe in Him.

To please God we need faith, just like Noah who built an ark in preparation for the flood. Noah had not yet seen the coming flood but he through faith believed what God said.

In the last days the Bible predicts that many will question the coming again of the Lord Jesus, saying where is He? The reason why God is delaying His coming is that he is long-suffering and not willing that any should perish but that all should repent and believe in Jesus.

Monday 17 June 2013

Gospel Meeting 17th June 2013

Speaker: Philip Kaye (Skelmanthorpe)

Reading: 1 John 4:7-11

Subject: Love

1) The Splendour of God's Son:

God is love and he is the source of love. He loves us even though he disapproves of our actions. We are sinners but Jesus came to seek and save us.

2)  The Sending of God's Son:

God has demonstrated his love by sending his son to die on the cross for us. He loved us before we had any love for him. 'This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins' (I John 4:10). He sent his son that we might have eternal life through faith in him.

3) The Satisfaction of God's Wrath:

We cannot satisfy God in our sins. God is satisfied in the death of his Son for sin. We can be saved by resting on what Jesus has done for us on the cross, paying the price for our sin.

Sunday 9 June 2013

Gospel Meeting Sunday 9th June 2013

Speaker: Graham Stanley (Harehills, Leeds)

Reading: Luke 8: 43-48

Subject: Women with an incurable disease meets Jesus.

Luke 8 tells us about a woman who had an incurable illness, she had spent all of her money on finding a cure and she comes to Jesus for help.

The women is a picture of us. We have a spiritual disease called sin and we will die eternally if we do not find a cure.

The women came to Jesus, she touched his clothing and immediately she was cleansed. We too, if we come to Jesus can find forgiveness from our sins.

Jesus asked, "Who touched Me?" The women fell at his feet and confessed it was she. If we believe in Jesus we must confess Him as our Saviour and Lord of our lives.

Jesus told her, "Go in peace." When we trust Jesus we gives us peace.

Monday 3 June 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 02/06/13

Mr. David Flett from Scarborough read John 4 vs.4-30, 39-42.
CONVICTED, CONVINCED, CONVERTED.
He knows our need and can supply our need.
The Saviour brought the woman to the point where she acknowledged her sin and her need for a Saviour, she was convicted.
The law can never save us, it demands righteousness but grace gives righteousness.
She had head knowledge and He said I am He and she was convinced.
there was a change in her life she was forgiven she was right with God, so much so the people wanted to see Jesus and they were convicted, convinced, and converted.

Sunday 26 May 2013

Sunday 26/05/2013

Speaker: Jack Douglas (Cleator Moor)

Missionary Report

Jack gave a missionary report of his work in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Jack and his wife settled with the Pawaian tribe in and lived there for 37 years. They learned the language over many years and translated the Bible. Today many of the Pawaians have become Christians and their lives have been transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Gospel Meeting

Reading: Acts 4: 1-12

Topic: Mediators

There is only one name that can save us, the name of Jesus.

We are enemies of God the Bible tells us (Colossians 1:21) and our sin separates us from God.

God's standard is holy perfection.

Jesus became our mediator, bearing our sin on the cross, to bring us to God if we believe on Him.

'Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.' Acts 4:12

Sunday 19 May 2013

Sunday 19th May Gospel Meeting

Speaker: Terry Martin (Castleford)

Reading: Isaiah 48:16-22

Topic: Is Real Peace Obtainable Today?

Isaiah's message to the children of Israel is the same message God is bringing to us today.

Real peace is having the Prince of Peace (Jesus) as your Lord and Saviour. Jesus has made a way to God for us, He has paid the price, by dying on the cross for our sins. If you trust Him you will find peace.

Monday 13 May 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 12/05/2013

Mr. Malcolm Neate from Leeds read Luke 15 vs.3-13 and 17-24.
He spoke about being lost.
The sheep wandered off  and needed a seeking shepherd.
The coin was lost without doing anything, we are born in sin and it needed the light of the Holy Spirit to be found.
The son deliberately was lost and had to acknowledge his sin and needed the grace of his father to lovingly welcome him back.
God can forgive all our sin, He smote His Son on the cross and He paid the price for our sin and bore the judgement of God.
The sheep was brought home on the shepherds shoulders.
The coin was grasped securely in her hand.
The son was hugged warmly by his father.
Best robe - new man.
Ring - new relationship.
Shoes - new walk.
Believers will forever be rejoicing in His presence.
Unbelievers will forever be lost in Hell.

Monday 6 May 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 05/05/2013

Mr David Heyhoe from Hull read Exodus 26 vs.15-30 and Acts 2 vs.11-24 &36-47
David started off following our recent "theme" of "the way" the only way to God is through the Lord Jesus and His death for us.
Then he spoke about the boards and the bars in the Tabernacle representing those who make up the Church and the things that link us together and he mentioned that it was and is the place where God dwells and has His presence.
Acts 2 vs.42 ¶  And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
The 4 bars;
Doctrine - "thy word is truth" teaching beware of Satan's subtle attacks.
Fellowship - care and support for each other not expecting from others without being prepared to give.
Breaking Bread - always remember the Lord's death till He come, precious times.
Prayers - dependence on God for guidance not always asking but worshiping.
The 5th bar within speaks of the Holy Spirit which ties us together and brings unity and togetherness we are tied together.
We should continue steadfastly in these things to the glory of God and our spiritual wellbeing.

Sunday 28 April 2013

Sunday 28th April 2013

Speaker: Percy Hope (Scarborough)

Key Readings:
Psalm 37 vs. 1-17
John 14 vs. 1-6
Isaiah 30 v. 21

Subject: The Way

Percy spoke about some of the miracles Jesus carried out during his life (refer Mark 2 vs. 1-12; Luke 6 vs. 17-19; Mark 1 vs. 40-45).

Matthew 7 vs. 13, 14, 21-23, tell us about the broad and narrow way. Most people are on the broad road which leads to destruction. They are ignorant of the teachings of Jesus. The Bible tells us concerning the narrow road, 'few there be that find it.' We need to strive to reach the narrow gate that leads to life. Acts 14 v. 22 tells us Christians will suffer tribulation on the pathway to heaven. Its not an easy path but it is the only way to heaven and its through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life no man comes unto God except through Me."

Sunday 21 April 2013

Sunday 21st April 2013

Speaker: Philip Gibson (Cutsyke)

Reading: Luke Ch. 24 vs.13-35

Subject: On The Road With Jesus

The Christian pathway is not always easy, there will be times of discouragement and sadness as well as the good and happy times. The two disciples were walking on the road the third day after Jesus' death, not realising that He had already risen that day. Jesus drew near to them on the road but they did not recognise Him. Sometimes it can seem that we are far from God even when He is near.

Jesus challenged them about their lack of faith in what the scriptures had foretold about His death and resurrection, how that He would die for sins but rise again in victory over sin and death. How much are we trusting in God and following Him day by day?

The two disciples, not yet knowing it was Jesus, invited Him to stay with them for the night. It was when they were eating supper that their eyes were opened to who Jesus was. How intimate are we with Jesus? Are we letting Him into every area of our lives and developing our relationship with Him?

Their hearts burned within them as they talked with Jesus. They loved being with Jesus. How much do you love Jesus and enjoy spending time with Him?

Monday 15 April 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 14/04/2013

Mr. William Horsburgh read Luke 19 vs.1-27

"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
Zacchaeus was rich and powerful and very corrupt and we can relate to that in our day and those sort of people are the last people we would think would be saved but these things are irrelevant when it comes to salvation. A meeting with the Lord Jesus is what is important he wanted to see Jesus and Jesus came to meet him. He genuinely turned to Jesus for it is only He who can satisfy, He paid the price to set people free.

Sunday 7 April 2013

Sunday 7th April 2013

Speaker: Malcom Blanche

Reading: Isaiah 42 vs.1-4
              Matthew 12 vs.10-21

Topic: What The Lord Didn't Do

1) Sin - 1 John 3 verse 5 says, 'And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.' The Lord Jesus was tempted like no other; these temptation proved that He was unable to sin.

2) Please Himself - Jesus came into the world to save us from our sins because He loved us. He came not to please Himself but for our sakes He died upon the cross. His body was broken for us, His blood was shed for us.

3)  Seek Attention For Himself - He told the people He healed in Matthew Ch. 12 not to make Him known.

4) Cause Harm - He was gentle. Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to show us the love and mercy of God.

5) Not Fail - The Lord Jesus is unfailing, as the eternal Son of God. He offers us eternal salvation if we repent and place our faith in Him.

Monday 1 April 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 31/03/2013

Mr. Andrew Elliott read Luke 23 vs.44-56, Luke 24 vs.1-12, Acts 1 vs.6-12 and Hebrews 10 vs.5-14
He emphasised that we should be occupied with the person of the cross and not just the cross.
He spoke about 4 places three that were full and became empty and one that was empty and became full.
1/ The Cross - He was crucified by wicked hands and punished by God for our sin but He was taken down by loving hands and laid in a tomb.
2/ The Tomb - He was laid in a new tomb no corruption had been there, and on the third day He is not here but has risen, still no corruption in the tomb.
3/ The World - the world was full of Christ and then He ascended back to Heaven although His Spirit remains in His people. We should be full of Him and empty to the world.

4/ Heaven - He left Heaven to come to this world and has now returned His work completed still bearing the marks of Calvary  in His glorified body.
Are we in the good of His work and enjoying Him as our Saviour and Lord.

Saturday 30 March 2013

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE

Mr. Peter Jones from Scarborough read Luke 23 vs.33-47, 1 Corinthians 15 vs.3-4, Isaiah 53 vs.3-12, and Genesis 22 vs.1-14. He spoke about the comparisons between Jonah and Abraham and Isaac and the death of the Lord Jesus (The scriptures speak of Him). The suffering servant the suffering Saviour died for our sins.

Monday 25 March 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 24/03/2013

Mr. Stan Chappellow read John 12 vs.12-16
He spoke about journeys and travelling, he then spoke about the Lords journey and His anticipation of the forthcoming events he mentioned that after His crucifixion there would no longer be any need for any other sacrifices.
There will be no sin that will ever enter Heaven so He had gone to prepare a place for us knowing that He would pay the price and redeem us at Calvary and gain the victory over sin and death and Satan.
He is coming again to take those who have trusted Him to Heaven but in the meantime we should be serving Him and laying up treasure in Heaven ready for that soon coming day.

Sunday 17 March 2013

Sunday 17th March

Speaker: Scott Armstrong (Killamarsh)

Reading: Luke 19:1-10

Topic: Zacchaeus

Jesus was interested in Zacchaeus (Zac), He is also interested in you.

Zac was determined to meet Jesus. He couldn't see Him because of all the crowd so he climbed up into a tree where Jesus would be passing by. Jesus passed by the tree, looked up and spoke to Zac. You too will find Jesus if you seek Him.

Jesus asked Zac if He could stay at his house; Zac received Him with joy. Jesus offers us salvation if we let Him into our lives. Let Jesus into your life and receive the joy that Zac experienced.

Jesus went to stay with a sinner; Zac was not perfect. Jesus will receive you too if you repent of your sin and follow Him.

Zac's life changed after that; he gave half his belongings to the poor and gave four times the amount back to people he had cheated. When someone trusts Jesus there will be a change in their life for the better.

Sunday 10 March 2013

Gospel Meeting - Sunday 10th March 2013

Speaker: Stephen Downes

Reading: Psalm 14:1-4
              Psalm 139: 1-17
              Psalm 102: 19-21

Subject: Looking Down and Coming Down

Psalm 14 reads: The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.

Psalm 139 tells us that God knows all about us and even understands our thoughts.

God not only looked down but He came down. God came in the person of Jesus because He loved us and wanted to demonstrate His love. He came at a time appointed by God to be the Saviour of the world. He came to die for our sins.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

Sunday 3 March 2013

Sunday 3rd March

Speaker: Graham Elliott (Scarborough)

Reading: Matthew 6: 1-18
               Luke 11: 1-4
               Luke 18: 9-14

Topic: Prayer

Prayer is about speaking to God the since thoughts of our heart and not simply saying things other people have written or said. Jesus gave a lesson on prayer, He taught about how to pray (not what to pray).

The prayer begins with addressing God. It is a special privilege of the believer to call God our Father. We are to remember in our address that God is in heaven and give Him the respect that His position deserves.

There are six pleas in the prayer; three God-ward and three man-ward.

1) We are to make His name holy.
2) To look for His Kingdom.
3) We are to desire for His will be be done.

4) God provides us our needs (bread) day by day.
5) As God has forgiven us we by the same measure are to forgive others.
6) We can commit to God our desire not to be led into sin.

The conclusion of the prayer gives recognition to the Supreme, Almighty God who we are to submit to and serve.

Sunday 24 February 2013

Sunday 24th February

Speaker: Gareth Crossley (Blackbrook)

Reading: Ephesians Ch. 2 vs. 1-10.

In verses 1-3 we have described to us what a person is like before they become a Christian:
  • dead in trespasses and sins;
  • walking according to the course of this world;
  • conducting ourselves in the lusts of our flesh;
  • by nature children of wrath.
But God, who is merciful because of His great love for us has made us alive with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Monday 18 February 2013

Gospel Meeting 17/02/2013

Mr. John Clegg from Skelmanthorpe read Mark 4 vs. 35-41 and 5 vs.1
He spoke about a Great Storm which is like the lives of the unsaved whose destination is Hell.
Great Calm there is one person who can bring you from a Great Storm to a Great Calm through faith in Him Jesus cares about us and came to die on a cross so that we can have
The Calm of sins forgiven.
The Calm of knowing that we will see Him one day.
The Calm of being with Him.
The Calm of being like Him.
The Calm of knowing that we shall reign with Him.
"Let us pass over to the other side" Mark 4 vs.35
"And they came over to the other side" Mark 5 vs.1
If He says it it will come to pass God's promises will never fail, He will come again.

Sunday 10 February 2013

Sunday 10th February 2013

Speaker: Alistair Pattison (York)

Reading: John 8: 12-20

Topic: Light of the world

Jesus said in John 8 v.12: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Jesus was the only one who could say that statement of Himself. He was revealing to the people gathered who He really and truly was. He makes it clear in that statement that there is no other light that has come, that is, or that will be but that it is Him who is The Light. Jesus asks us to believe on Him that we will have this light and also life. Jesus also said, "I am the way, the truth and the life." Jesus brings both light and life into our lives through faith in Him.

Monday 4 February 2013

GOSPEL MEETING 03/02/2013

Mr. Rex Maffey read Genisis 45 vs.1-11 and spoke about vs. 9-11 drawing out the comparisons between Joseph and the Lord Jesus Christ. Also he spoke about the message that Joseph sent to Jacob and again compared that to the Gospel message. It was urgent, it was from the Lord, acceptance would result in blessings, if refused there is a warning of poverty and death. No God, no Christ, no hope. If sin is not dealt with Hell is final. God's love and resourses are untold- accept or refuse.

Sunday 27 January 2013

Gospel Meeting - Sunday 27th January 2013

Speaker: Jason Stewart

Reading: 1 Corinthians Ch. 9 vs. 24-27

Topic: Running The Race

Jason spoke on running the Christian race and asked four questions:

1) How can I enter the race?
Just as athletes have to get rid of the rubbish in their lives if they are to compete in the Olympics we too have to get rid of the spiritual rubbish in our lives, which the Bible calls sin. The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans Ch. 3 v. 23)

2)When should I enter the race?
Now! The Bible says "Behold now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians Ch. 6 v. 2)

3) What if I don't enter the race?
God will be your judge and punish you for your sin. The Bible says, "He that believes on the Son has life, but he that does not believe the Son shall not see life and the wrath of God abides on him." (John Ch 3 v. 36)

4) What are the rewards for entering the race?
God will reward us if we remain faithful to him on earth. Ephesians Ch. 1 v. 3 says "Blessed be the God and Father or our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." God promises us much more than physical blessings but spiritual ones as well including eternal life with Him.

Sunday 20th January 2013

Speaker: Gordon Robshaw

Reading:
Exodus Ch.12 vs.3-14
Hebrews Ch.2 vs.6-10

God commands that we repent and turn to Him, placing our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son Jesus to die on a cross for our sins. We can know forgiveness from our sins if we believe in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans Ch. 6 v.23).

Sunday 13th January

Speaker:
Jonathan Gibson (Harrogate)

Readings:
Mark Ch. 5 vs. 38-43
Luke Ch.7 vs. 11-16
John Ch. 11 vs. 39-46

Jonathan spoke about three miracles of Jesus raising people back to life. This is a picture of the spiritual life Jesus can give to all those who come to Him. He can deliver us from spiritual death and give us eternal life if we believe on Him.
1) Mark 5 - Jesus told a man whose daughter was dying, "Do not be afraid, only believe." Jesus then went on to raise her from the dead.
2) Luke 7 - Jesus met a woman whose son had died and told her, "Do not weep." He raised her son back to life.
3) John 11 - Jesus told a sister whose brother had died, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
Martha replied: " Yes Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."
Jesus again showed His power over death by raising her brother from the dead.

Sunday 6th January 2012

Speaker: Laurence Jones
Readings: Leviticus Ch. 23 vs. 23-44
John Ch. 7 vs. 1-15, 25-39

Jesus said in John Ch 7 v 37 "If anyone thirsts let him come to Me and drink..."

This is an invitation to everyone to receive spiritual life, for Jesus was speaking in a spiritual sense.

Those who receive this spiritual life must be aware of their need, their thirst. People need to realise their need before God before He can help them.

It is Jesus we come to, it is He who offers us the invitation.

He is qualified to save us because He is God revealed to us in human flesh.

Jesus when He was on the cross said, "I thirst". This is the one who could satisfy the thirst of the whole world and He is thirsty. Why? It is because He was receiving the punishment for the sin of the whole world upon the cross. Receive Him and drink from His fountain and you will never thirst spiritually again.
