Sunday 27th May

Terry Martin (Castleford) read from Genesis Ch. 6 vs 1-8 about Noah and the flood. His title for the message was ' A man who trusted in God and received his reward'. Terry looked at some of the similarities between Noah's day and today. People scoffed at Noah when he preached about the flood judgement to come, as they do today when godly men warn of God's judgement to come. God provided a way of escape, by entering the ark that Noah built, and God provides us with an escape today through Jesus Christ who died for us. Noah and his family believed God and entered the ark. When the floods came the people left outside found out it was too late to escape when the floods came, God had shut the door of the ark.

Sunday 20th May 2012

Malcolm Neate from Leeds read from 1 Peter Ch. 2 vs. 22-24 and Ch. 3 vs. 18, 22. He spoke about Jesus becoming a man on earth. He was able to offer himself as an acceptable sacrifice to God because he was holy. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter that the just one suffered for us the unjust, He took our place. Malcolm touched on the supremacy of Jesus Christ, and how as the Creator of the world all things were made by Him. Through faith in Jesus we have eternal life and an inheritance in heaven.

Sunday 13th May

Scott Armstrong read John Chapter 3 verses 16-18 and Chapter 14 verses 2-6. He spoke about the love of God, shown to us in the death of Jesus Christ. We deserve to be judged for our sin but Jesus took our sin upon Himself. We can know forgiveness through believing in Jesus. He is the one and only way to heaven, He said: "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me."

GOSPEL MEETING 06/05/2012

We were very pleased that one of our visiters was able to fill in for us Mr Stephen Villars from Cwmbran read Luke 15 11-32 and Luke 16 19-31. He spoke of a "faithful saying" God's word can be relied upon. The Lord Jesus came to save sinners and that includes us all. WE have to compare ourselves to God's standard not to each other. We were also reminded of the repentance shown by the Prodigal Son and the fact that the Father had compassion even in his rebellion and was waiting for his return and gave him the best. Then we heard about the rich man and Lazarus and that how we have choices and those choices determine our future "It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgement" The rich man knew about repentance but left it too late we need to pepent and believe to obtain God's salvation He is waiting for us to return.
