Gospel Meeting Sunday 23rd June

Speaker: Jim Locke (Harehills, Leeds)

Reading: Genesis: 6:5-6 & 7:1,15,16
                Matthew: 24:36-42
                Hebrews 11:6-7
                2 Peter 3:1-13

Noah was a righteous man in a generation that had abandoned God. God told Noah to build an ark, which he did, and God judged the world through a flood. Noah and his family were saved because they believed God and entered the ark.

Jesus said the last days would be like the days of Noah when people would be enjoying the pleasures of the world and leaving God out of their lives. The Lord Jesus is coming again in judgement upon those who do not believe in Him.

To please God we need faith, just like Noah who built an ark in preparation for the flood. Noah had not yet seen the coming flood but he through faith believed what God said.

In the last days the Bible predicts that many will question the coming again of the Lord Jesus, saying where is He? The reason why God is delaying His coming is that he is long-suffering and not willing that any should perish but that all should repent and believe in Jesus.

Gospel Meeting 17th June 2013

Speaker: Philip Kaye (Skelmanthorpe)

Reading: 1 John 4:7-11

Subject: Love

1) The Splendour of God's Son:

God is love and he is the source of love. He loves us even though he disapproves of our actions. We are sinners but Jesus came to seek and save us.

2)  The Sending of God's Son:

God has demonstrated his love by sending his son to die on the cross for us. He loved us before we had any love for him. 'This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins' (I John 4:10). He sent his son that we might have eternal life through faith in him.

3) The Satisfaction of God's Wrath:

We cannot satisfy God in our sins. God is satisfied in the death of his Son for sin. We can be saved by resting on what Jesus has done for us on the cross, paying the price for our sin.

Gospel Meeting Sunday 9th June 2013

Speaker: Graham Stanley (Harehills, Leeds)

Reading: Luke 8: 43-48

Subject: Women with an incurable disease meets Jesus.

Luke 8 tells us about a woman who had an incurable illness, she had spent all of her money on finding a cure and she comes to Jesus for help.

The women is a picture of us. We have a spiritual disease called sin and we will die eternally if we do not find a cure.

The women came to Jesus, she touched his clothing and immediately she was cleansed. We too, if we come to Jesus can find forgiveness from our sins.

Jesus asked, "Who touched Me?" The women fell at his feet and confessed it was she. If we believe in Jesus we must confess Him as our Saviour and Lord of our lives.

Jesus told her, "Go in peace." When we trust Jesus we gives us peace.

GOSPEL MEETING 02/06/13

Mr. David Flett from Scarborough read John 4 vs.4-30, 39-42.
CONVICTED, CONVINCED, CONVERTED.
He knows our need and can supply our need.
The Saviour brought the woman to the point where she acknowledged her sin and her need for a Saviour, she was convicted.
The law can never save us, it demands righteousness but grace gives righteousness.
She had head knowledge and He said I am He and she was convinced.
there was a change in her life she was forgiven she was right with God, so much so the people wanted to see Jesus and they were convicted, convinced, and converted.
