Gospel Meeting 23/04/2017

John’s Gospel ch10 vs1 – 5, 11, 14, 25 – 28.

Today’s technology is such that a phone can recognise the voice of its owner, and will automatically ring the number of the name he speaks. This is known as “voice recognition”

We also find voice recognition in this passage of scripture, spoken by the Lord Jesus:
ch10 vs1) “Verily, verily, I say unto, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2) But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4) And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5) And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers”.

In Israel, three shepherds and their flocks of sheep from different pastures, happened to meet each other by a main roadside. Whilst they were chatting, the three flocks of sheep freely mingled into one. When the shepherds were ready to move on, they each called out, and every sheep knew their own shepherd’s voice, separated, and followed him. Sheep only respond to one voice – it is not random, but personal and intimate.

vs14) “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine”.

We can also be like sheep, who are prone to wander and go down our own pathways, but we need to listen to His voice as our good Shepherd – and to respond to it.

John’s Gospel ch20 vs16, Mary responded to her Master’s voice.
Our Shepherd is always near at hand amidst our times of sadness.

We can point to the time in our lives when we had personal contact with our Shepherd – Romans ch10 vs9) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”. vs10) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our personal sins, and the sins of the whole world.
Our eyes need to be opened to be sorry and to confess our sins, and by trusting in His blood given at the Cross we are saved from our sins eternal consequences – death and Hell.

We who are saved should share our testimonies concerning our Good Shepherd with others who are yet to know Him. Are you still to know Him? If you have been  doubting God, do not beat yourself up over it, but come believing just as you are. Jesus will accept you.

John’s Gospel ch11 vs25) Jesus said “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”.
Although many people’s lives can often feel hurt, or dreams broken, to know The Lord always brings renewed comfort and certainties, because of His empty tomb and resurrection.

Do you recognise the voice of Jesus?
We cannot yet see Him, but we can know Him as Lord.
2nd Corinthians ch5 vs21) “For God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God”.

The Lord’s Cross allows us to stand before His holiness without shame.

Gospel Meeting 16/04/2017

Luke ch23 vs33-34, 44-56, ch24 vs1-9.
1st Corinthians ch15 vs3-4.

The Gospel is a simple message.
However, what does Easter mean to you? Is it about commerce, holidays, family?
What Easter means to the speaker is written in 15 words from 1st Corinthians:
1)      Christ died for our sins
2)      and that he was buried
3)      and that he rose again
Are you thankful Christ came and died for your sins?
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”.
When we call Him Saviour, we call Him by His name.
Former astronaut John Glenn whilst orbiting and observing the Earth, thanked God that His Son came to this Earth and died for him.

Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy life for 33½ years , bringing pleasure to His Father.
He never sinned, He was unique – 2 reasons – to glorify God and to go to Calvary’s cross to pay the price of our sins.
He knew what laid before Him – the suffering and shame of being crucified and made sin – but still went all the way to Calvary for each of us. 300 years later, Emperor Constantine banned death by crucifixion as being too horrendous.
Are your sins forgiven?  Have you repented and by faith accepted Christ as your personal Saviour, through His shed blood, death and resurrection? If not, believe tonight, as we are never promised another opportunity tomorrow – “Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation”.

In those 3 hours of darkness upon the cross, judgement was laid upon Christ
Physically, He was dead. Loving arms took His dead body down from the cross. His dead body was placed in a tomb. A large stone was rolled across the entrance and sealed. Buried and proof of death. However, three days later the stone was rolled away and the grave was empty – He rose again, and is alive for evermore.
Millions of people visit shrines and look down to the dead, but we look up to our living Lord and Saviour.

He is coming again soon, make sure you are going to Heaven and not the awful reality of Hell - the place for those with unforgiven sins. Be saved from that, and let the Lord Jesus take you to an eternal home in Heaven. Trust in Him – the best is yet to come.

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words”.

Gospel Meeting 09/04/2017

1 Corinthians 2 vs.1-11.
“The Blessings Of God Are Amazing.”
We need to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ to be in the good of them.
Vs.2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
All that matters is centred in one person Jesus Christ and His death for us.
These things are significantly different, they are not by mans wisdom but by the Holy Spirit.
Vs.9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Vs.10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
There are manifold blessings now, and so much more when we get to Glory.
He loved us even before the foundation of the earth and He knew what we would be like.
Our home in Heaven will be without Satan, sin, suffering, sadness, pain, but it will be with God.
We will be Holy, no more need for “feet washing.”
Grace is glory begun, glory is grace consummated.

Joy and holiness go together, we will be with GOD, and His Son Jesus Christ and they will be our focus.

Gospel Meeting 02/04/2017

Psalm 103.
The benefits that are ours through the abundant goodness of God.
Praise God His mercies are new every morning.
1/ His forgiveness.
What it cost Him.
Romans 5 vs.6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2/ His provision
Life, energy don't try and rely on your own strength, He sees and knows all.

3/ His righteousness and justice.
He is Sovereign, He has won the victory. He will remove all pain and wipe away all tears, we have hope and we are the salt and light on the earth.
His love is as high as the Heavens
He loves and cares for us always even when we fall, but don't forget God
Bless the Lord for His forgiveness, which is ours through faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
