Sunday 30 September 2012

Sunday 30th September

Doug Rea (Leeds) read Genesis Ch 1 vs 1-13 and Romans Ch 1 vs.20-22. He spoke on God as our Creator and Saviour. Science has tried to disprove God but it has not been successful because our faith is based on evidence. Science has its limitations and in maths we can find proof. We can not prove God exists and neither can science prove God does not exist. To believe in God we need faith and its by reading His Word the Bible that we get to know God. Jesus, who God sent into the world to save us says, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to God except through Me."

Gospel Meeting 23/09/2012

Mr Paul Jackson from Harrogate read John 1 vs.29-37
                                                             Revelation 5 vs.6-10
                                                             Revelation 7 vs.15-17
                                                             Revelation 21 vs.22-27
                                                             Revelation 22 vs.3-4
His subject was "The Lamb Of God"
We heard about the significance of the lamb through the scriptures with Able, Isaac, The Passover, The Offerings, Isaiah 53 and then on to John the Baptist.
He mentioned the Work of the Lamb.
                             Worth of the Lamb.
                             Wrath of the Lamb.
                             Worship of the Lamb.
and for further study he also mentioned the wedding and the wife of the Lamb.
The sacrifice of the Lamb Of God is sufficient to take away our sin not just cover it through faith and repentance towards Him.

Sunday 16 September 2012

Sunday 16th September

Stuart Gordon (Harrogate) read John Ch 21. He drew lessons from the disciples who were fishing, they had worked all night and caught nothing. Jesus appeared to them and told them were they could find fish. They cast their nets and filled them with fish. We can do nothing on our own strength, but we can be empowered through God's help if we let him work in our lives. Secondly, the disciples didn't recognise Jesus initially, despite spending years with him. We too as believers can go astray but God will seek to bring us back if we let Him. Jesus asked them to "Come" with Him. Jesus also is asking us today to come, He has died for us that we might be reconciled to God and spend eternity with Him.

Sunday 9th September

David Cartwright (Redcar) read Romans Ch 1 vs 15-25 and John Ch 5 vs 39&40. He spoke about the lost condition that this world in is and about the power of God in salvation.

Sunday 2 September 2012

Sunday 2nd September

George Clamp (Hemsworth) read about the crucifixion of Jesus in Luke Ch. 23 vs. 32-47. He talked about how people who grow up in the same circumstances can take very different pathways in life. The two criminals on the cross beside Jesus had both broken the law and were being punished for their crimes. They were both criminals but one decided to ask for forgiveness from Jesus while the other one chose not to. One of the criminals asked Jesus to remember him in the next life and Jesus said to him that "today you will be with me in paradise." The two criminals ended up going to separate destinies, one to heaven the other to hell. There is forgiveness from Jesus if we seek it.
