Missionary Report 24-07-10

Stephen and Jill Davies went to Tanzania some years ago to take up teaching and administrative responsibilities at a school in the capital Dar es Salaam which served the children of missionaries and children of the local elite. They subsequently felt exercised to try to meet the needs of poorer. less privileged children and to that end have, after many struggles established a pre-school facility at Kinzudi a village (pop c 4000)on the edge of the capital. It is called "Watoto wa Thamani Day Care Centre". The daily programme (Monday -Friday) runs from 8am to 12.30pm, and includes the singing of the national anthem, choruses, Bible stories, literacy and numeracy skills and play. Some of the instruction is in Kiswahili; some in English. They have also been able to help local families in other ways e.g in the provision of mosquito nets, hygiene packs and clothing.

They have also been involved in establishing an assembly with local believers in the village, two of whom have been especially helpful in the work: Festo and Fabiola whom we were asked to remember in our prayers.

Stephen and Jill's two children, Hannah and Joshua, Hannah's husband, Charles and their granddaughter Isabella were also with us during the weekend.

After an excellent tea Stephen gave us some ministry from the Word (Hebrews 1 1-2 5, 9 and
2 14 - 3 1) under the Title "Consider Him"

Recordings of these meetings can be made available on request.
