Gospel Meeting 01/03/2015

Mr. Phillip Gibson read Ephesians 6 vs.10-20 and 1 Samuel 17 vs.1-42.
He spoke about facing all sorts of giants in our lives and sometimes we try to fight them in our strength instead of God's strength. David faced intense opposition from his family, and if David had fought the battle with Saul's armour and sword the credit would have been down to them and not to God.
Hebrews 11 vs.1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

1 Samuel 17 vs.40  And he took his STAFF in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

Psalm 23 vs.4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy STAFF they comfort me.

Matthew 27 vs.29  And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a REED in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
30  And they spit upon him, and took the REED, and smote him on the head.

God loves us and cares for us and is with us no matter how dark our circumstances are. Christ died for our sin and we have forgiveness through faith in His finished work. David proved God and we can too. What a testimony it was to the Jews and the Philistines and the nations around.
