Gospel Meeting 22/11/2015

Dr. Gareth Crossley read John 5 vs.1-15
"The man at the pool of Bethesda."
What relevance is this for us today?
John 20 vs.30  And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31  But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
There are 7 miracles in John's Gospel before the resurrection and one after.
Jesus knew all things He knew what would happen and He knew this man and He came specifically to meet him.
Bethesda means house of mercy.
5 porches could represent the Pentateuch which could not help him, but through the Lord Jesus he received mercy.
38 years he was unwell (The Jews wandered an extra 38 years in the wilderness because of unbelief), this could explain the reason why Jesus said to him "Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."
"Do you want to be made whole." complete body and soul.
"Rise, take up thy bed, and walk."
He is the Lord of the Sabbath.
"Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee." Don't reject God's grace in the Gospel and turn away from God and go to Hell. You must take this seriously, you must be deeply sorry for your sin repent because your sin really offends God and He will hold you accountable for it. Accept God's offer of Salvation by putting your faith in Jesus Christ, you will be forgiven saved from your sin to live for God a Holy life pleasing to Him.
Jesus is the Messiah the Son of God, He died on the cross to bare the punishment that we deserved, He paid the price in full.
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
Accept, believe, receive.
